Have you ever wanted to fortify your homestead skills? Becoming more self-reliant, and growing food the way that you want to, on your terms is what this course is all about. At Fowl Play Farm & Miss Bee Haven, we take you through the entire 8 week process of growing your chicken to feed your family. Each week, you will learn more about what it takes to raise the Cornish Cross chicken (this is the same chicken you find in the grocery store), and experience the daily routine of moving, feeding and growing your livestock on pasture. We cap your 8 week experience with an intensive, 3 day weekend of harvest. Day one, you will learn and participate in set up of the system to process our birds. On day two, you will participate in bringing the birds from the field to our harvest area; where we fully process each bird, in preparation for day 3. On day 3, we cover aging, bagging, and preservation (freezing). We also cover safe food handling practices for the homestead, and talk about the differences between homestead safe, and sales safe.
At the end of your experience, you walk away with a binder of valuable material, including links to all of our products that we use to raise our birds on pasture, build plans for our Suscovich-inspired chicken tractors, and our tips and tricks for success starting on day one.
